The year 2022 starts with a bang for TVS as the company has already sold out the more exclusive TVS Apache RTR 165 RP.
The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP was launched on December 23, 2021. Within 10 days, TVS has reported that all the 200 units of the Apache RTR 165 RP have been sold out. The motorcycle was launched for Rs. 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes it as pricey as some 200cc-250cc motorcycles in the market.
However, the higher sticker price brings along equipment which is mostly exclusive to track-use such as high-lift cam lobes and long duration valves. The engine has been bored out as well and the RTR 165 RP – as the name suggests – has a higher capacity engine compared to the standard RTR 160 4V.
The power output has been bumped up as well and the RTR 165 RP makes 18.9bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 8,750rpm. With more power on tap, TVS has also upgraded the braking hardware. The motorcycle features a larger disc brake at the rear. The gearbox is the same unit as the standard model but TVS has re-tuned the slipper-clutch assembly.
So far we know that the RTR 165 RP is the first motorcycle in the brand’s ‘Race Performance’ series. There is no confirmation if TVS will produce the RTR 165 RP again, but we suspect a more powerful TVS Ntorq 125cc scooter and RR310 are likely under development which may break cover this year under the ‘Race Performance’ series.
