TVS Group has filed a patent with the national trademarks departments for a product, under the word mark of “Apache RR 310S”.
Under the proprietary of Sundaram-Clayton Limited, a part of the TVS Group, a patent with the name “Apache RR 310S” has been filed with the Controller General of Patents Design and Trade Marks of India.
TVS Motors is expected to launch the eagerly awaited production version of the TVS Akula 310 concept around mid-2017. This patent filed by the company hints that the production model could be branded as “TVS Apache RR 310S”. The use of the Apache brand could be to capitalise on the already established brand – which is about to complete its 10th anniversary this year.
Based on the BMW G 310 R, TVS Motor showcased the Akula 310 Concept at the 2016 Auto Expo. This concept is set to spawn the production version likely to be under the Apache brand name. The bike will carry over the chassis and the 313cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled motor developed by BMW, though the engine may feature bespoke tuning. TVS has refused to comment about the specifications of the upcoming bike, but the engine in the BMW produces 33.5bhp and 28Nm of torque. TVS is likely to price the bike around the Rs. 1.6-1.8 lakh range and the bike has been confirmed for launch before July. 2017.
