The middle-weight adventure touring motorcycle space is all set to be spiced up, as Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will soon enter the market.
Triumph India plans on starting the year 2022 with the launch of the Tiger Sport 660. Ahead of the official price reveal, Triumph India has started accepting bookings for the most affordable Tiger in the vertical. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 can be booked for Rs 50,000, and we suspect the adventure touring motorcycle will be priced close to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle has already been on Triumph India’s website for some time now.
The Tiger Sport 660 is heavily based on the Trident 660. The engine on offer is a 660cc in-line three, which has been tuned to deliver 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed unit, which features a slip and assists clutch. Triumph is likely to offer an up-and-down quick-shifter as an optional extra.
Despite it being an adventure-focused motorcycle, the Tiger Sport 660 features the same wheel size of 17 inches on both ends, just like the Trident. This suggests that the Tiger Sport 660 will essentially be a motorcycle well-suited for the highway than for off-road bashing. However, we will reserve our judgment about the versatility of the Tiger Sport 660 until we ride the motorcycle, which should happen in the coming months.
The motorcycle will be offered with a host of accessories mainly focused on the touring aspect. Other features which will aid the long hauls are the adjustable-visor up-front, 17-litre fuel tank, and long-travel suspension – longer than that of the Trident 660 by 150mm.
The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will be positioned between the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT in terms of pricing.
