With an aim to enhance the sports quotient of the Speed Twin 1200 launched in August 2021 in India, Triumph has teased the arrival of a new variant called the Speed Twin 1200 RS. While the existing Speed Twin 1200 already has a 43mm upside-down Marzocchi fork (non-adjustable) and radially-mounted Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers, the upcoming Speed Twin 1200 will likely feature a fully adjustable, golden Showa upside-down fork at the front and Ohlins shock absorbers at the rear. The braking setup could be carried over from the Speed Twin 1200 – dual 320mm discs with Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers up front and a single disc at the back. Also, expect the bike to ride on the same 12-inch wire-spoked wheels with grippy Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.

Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS: Powertrain
There is a possibility that Triumph may equip the Speed Twin 1200 RS with the Thruxton-borrowed engine – a 1,200cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. With this Bonneville engine, the Thruxton makes 103bhp at 7,500rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,250rpm, which is the highest state of tune in the Bonneville series. Like the Thruxton's, the engine in the upcoming Speed Twin 1200 RS should be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
For those unaware, Triumph pulled the plug on the Thruxton last year. With the reveal of the Thruxton Final Edition in October 2023, Triumph paid homage to the cafe racer's racing heritage with a limited-edition version. With the Speed Twin 1200 RS, Triumph could be looking to fill the gap left by the discontinued Thruxton.
Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS: Other Details
The design details are scarce, but we expect the Speed Twin 1200 RS to be offered in a bright orange paint scheme as shown in the teaser trailer. The orange paint sits in contrast with the black and white stripes at the bottom of the fuel tank. Other new colour options could also be available.

The launch date is under wraps. Nevertheless, Triumph India is anticipated to bring the Speed Twin 1200 RS in a couple of months. At launch, the model is expected to be priced higher than the Speed Twin 1200 (Rs 11.09 lakh, ex-showroom).
