Cosmetic updates to the Speed Triple 1200 RS will be in line with the latest iteration of the smaller Street Triple. Expect a bump in displacement and output figures as well. Details will be out on 26th January.
Triumph hasn’t given the Speed Triple a substantial update since 2016, and with that in mind, a new model has been on the cards for a while now. The British marque has just released a teaser image of the streetfighter and announced its global unveiling on 26th January 2020.
Details of the new Speed Triple 1200 RS are scarce as of now, but if the teaser video is anything to go by, the new model will share a lot of design cues with the Street Triple RS. The headlight unit on the Speed Triple 1200 RS looks somewhat similar to its middle-weight sibling, with the semi-circular unit and the boomerang-shaped DRLs. The silhouette revealed in the teaser also seems to be missing the short windscreen above the headlight. Triumph has also released a teaser image of the Speed Triple 1200 RS, which flaunts a carbon fibre front mudguard. Just like the other models from the Hinckley-based brand, the Speed Triple, too, is expected to come with a colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, GoPro control, turn-by-turn navigation, and more. It is also safe to assume that the Speed Triple will come loaded with electronic wizardry including cornering ABS, traction control, and more.
As the name rightly suggests, the Speed Triple will also get a more powerful heart. Although the official figures aren’t out as yet, we know that it will surely make more power and torque than the model it replaces. Although there is no official confirmation from Triumph as yet, the Speed Triple is likely to make its way to India in the second half of 2021.
