Triumph Motorcycles has launched the updated version of the Speed 400 in India. At Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated Speed 400 brings new colour options, along with a few subtle upgrades to elevate the riding experience. This makes it around Rs 15,000 more expensive than its predecessor (Rs 2.35 lakh, ex-showroom).
While the outgoing Triumph Speed 400 was offered in three colour options (Carnival Red/Phantom Black, Caspian Blue/Storm Grey, and Phantom Black/Storm Grey), the newly launched Speed 400 comes in four new colours: Racing Yellow, Pearl Metallic White, Phantom Black, and Racing Red. Aside from new colours, the updated Triumph Speed 400 gets 5-step adjustable levers (front brake and clutch) as well as high-profile, 17-inch radial tyres from Vredestein – 110/80 front and 150/70 rear. Bookings for the new Speed 400 are underway for a token amount of Rs 5,000, while deliveries are scheduled to commence next month.
A 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm remains the same for the new Speed 400. The engine, which is named the TR-series, is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, assisted by a slipper and assist clutch. Even the main frame is the same for the bike.
The bike features all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system), a USB-C charging port, and a digi-analogue screen that displays a fuel gauge meter, a digital tachometer, a gear position indicator, and trip information.
