Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser, announcing it will launch a new modern classic on September 17 in India. While not confirmed, the UK-owned motorcycle maker could be readying a new variant with the same engine as the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X.
According to the teaser, the new variant features a red-grey paint scheme, silver badging on the side cowl, and a Triumph logo on the fuel tank, suggesting that the upcoming variant could be based on the Speed 400. While the Triumph Speed 400 is currently available in three colour options (Carnival Red/Phantom Black, Caspian Blue/Storm Grey, and Phantom Black/Storm Grey), Triumph is expected to offer fresh colour options with the new 400cc bike. We expect the new variant to be priced lower than the Speed 400, which is available at Rs 2.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Since it will be a 400cc bike, the upcoming variant will be powered by the same 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine, which is named the TR-series, will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox, assisted by a slipper and assist clutch. Even the main frame will likely be carried over from the Speed 400.
Features-wise, the Triumph Speed 400 offers all-LED lighting, traction control, dual-channel ABS, ride-by-wire, a USB-C charging port, and a digi-analogue screen that displays a fuel gauge meter, a digital tachometer, a gear position indicator, and trip information. Let's see how the company will spec the new 400cc bike.

In the Thruxton, the engine makes 103bhp at 7,500rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,250rpm, which is the highest state of tune in the Bonneville series.
