Tork Kratos R Urban Variant Launched in India at Rs 1.67 Lakh
Indian electric bikemaker Tork Motors recently launched the Kratos-R electric motorcycle in a new variant, called Urban. Priced at Rs 1.67 lakh, it is the brand's entry-level model. The Urban version is intended for regular city commutes. The bike will come with a "City" ride mode only.
Tork Motors, an electric bikemaker based in Pune, recently announced the release of a new Kratos-R model. This brand-new trim, dubbed Urban, costs Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Based on the current Kratos-R, the new Urban trim has fewer features and is intended primarily for daily city commutes. Notably, the manufacturer is offering a one-month "free trial" for all the functions accessible on the edition. The bike will come with a "City" ride mode only, which boasts a top speed of 70km/h and a range of 100-kilometre on a single charge. Early in 2022, Tork rolled out the Kratos in two versions: Standard and R. The firm, however, only produced the R variant, which had higher specifications, and currently only offers the R for sale. The standard model, which carried a price tag of Rs 1.32 lakh at launch, featured comparable specifications but lacked a few extras and had a marginally lower motor output. For the uninitiated, the Kratos R is now only eligible for a maximum FAME-II incentive of Rs 22,500, a drop of Rs 37,500 from its previous eligibility for a total FAME-II subsidy of Rs 60,000. In June, the company raised the price of the Kratos R by just over Rs 19,000. Starting on August 15, 2023, the new Kratos-R Urban trim will be offered for sale at Tork Experience Zones all over India. The bookings for the bike are underway for a token amount of Rs 999.

Tork Kratos R Urban Variant: Features Onboard
For the first 30 days following purchase, Tork is providing an extensive feature package on the Kratos R Urban trim free of charge. Reverse mode, vehicle locator, fast charging, in-app navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, ride analytics, anti-theft system, geofencing, charging point location, OTA updates, guide me home lights, and more are present. Moreover, three solid colour schemes are available for the motorcycle- Streaky Red, Oceanic Blue, as well as Midnight Black. A home charging setup will be offered as standard.
Buyers can opt to retain all of the features by paying an additional Rs 20,000, which is approximately the price difference between the top-of-the-line Kratos R and the Kratos R Urban. However, customers have to shell out the difference within six months of the purchase.
Tork Kratos R Urban Variant: Mechanical Specs
The newly-launched Urban variant shares a 4kWh lithium-ion battery pack with the Kratos R and is mechanically identical to it. This battery pack allows the edition to have a range of up to 120-kilometre in Eco mode, 100-kilometre in City mode, and 70-kilometre in Sport mode in real-world conditions. The same axial flux permanent magnet motor, which allows it to reach a top speed of 105km/h and achieve peak outputs of 12bhp and 38Nm of torque, is also present in this model. Its continuous output stands at 6bhp. The catch is that the bike will only have one ride mode (City) after a month of ownership, with a limited top speed of 70km/h and a range of 100km.

Commenting on the brand-new variant, Kapil Shelke, Founder & CEO, Tork Motors, said, "As we make our way into new markets in the country, we realise there is a great variation in riding style and usage pattern of our consumers. The new Urban' trim fulfills the requirements of an urban commuter who wants uncompromised performance and range at a very accessible price point and the features that he needs on an everyday basis. While this makes a compelling case for itself, the customers will also have the flexibility to upgrade within a fixed time frame."
