Indian roads frequently become crowded owing to excessive traffic. In these scenarios, two-wheelers become the most time-consuming solution for easily navigating the routes. While both scooters and motorcycles fall under this category, for people with a restricted budget, the scooters can be simpler to upkeep than the bikes. The scooters are effortless to park, drive, and look after due to their compact dimensions and sturdy design. Whether you live in a city, a rural area, or a remote area, you may now drive scooters on various surfaces because of multiple improvements in their features. Many scooters, both ICE and EV models, were introduced to our market in 2023. We have curated a list featuring some of the top models that captured the market's interest with their features and competitive pricing. So, without further ado, let's have a look.
Ola S1 X
The most affordable electric vehicle in Ola's portfolio is the S1 X, which comes in three versions — S1X (2kWh), S1X (3kWh), and S1X Plus. While the entry-level S1X variant costs Rs 89,999, the Mid-spec and Plus models are priced at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,09,999, respectively. All are ex-showroom prices. The S1X standard is powered by a 2kWh battery, while the remaining two variants are driven by a 3kWh battery. The 6kW motor, however, is used by all three trim levels. The base model's highest speed is 85km/h, while other variants claim top speeds of 90km/h, each. These models vary not only in battery size and price but also in terms of features and other specs. The Plus model features a larger five-inch display, compared to the standard and mid-spec versions that sport the 3.5-inch screen.

Hero Xoom
The Hero Xoom scooter is now available in India, with a starting price of Rs 71,484 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in three variants — ZX, VX, and LX, each with varying features, pricing, and hardware. The scooter comes packed with several useful features like cornering lights, an LCD with Bluetooth connectivity, an LED headlight, a USB charging port, a signature H-shaped LED taillamp and stylish diamond-cut alloy wheels. The Hero Xoom is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, 110.9cc engine that produces 8.05bhp and 8.70Nm. In India, the Xoom competes with the Honda Dio and the TVS Jupiter.
Honda Activa 6G Smart Key
While the price of the Honda Activa 6G begins at Rs 76,234 (ex-showroom, Delhi), its new Smart Key variant is available for Rs 80,537 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Keyless operation is a perk of the Honda Activa 6G Smart Key model. The added feature of keyless operation allows the rider to lock or unlock the handlebar, access the under-seat storage, or open the fuel lid without using a physical key. All in all, the Activa lineup includes three primary variants: Standard, Deluxe, and Smart Key with alloys. The Activa 6G Smart Key version has the same 109.51cc single-cylinder engine that propels the regular model. It has a side stand with an engine inhibitor and a silent start system installed. Additionally, the Honda Activa 6G Smart Key version comes with capabilities like vehicle monitoring and anti-theft functionalities.
Ather 450X and 450S
This year saw the release of the revised 450X and the new Ather 450S — the entry-level scooter in the 450 series. In reference to the 450X, there are now two battery choices available for the scooter — 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh.The 450X with the smaller battery pack has a starting price of Rs 1,37,999, while the variant with the bigger battery costs Rs 1,44,921. In addition, the company also offers a version called the Pro Pack, which provides users access to all of the scooter's capabilities at an extra cost of Rs 20,000.
In contrast, the Ather 450S costs Rs 1.30 lakh and features a 2.9kWh battery. It takes 3.9 seconds to go from 0 to 40km/h. Using the standard 350-watt charger, the automaker claims that the EV can be fully charged in more than eight and a half hours.
2024 Bajaj Chetak Urbane
The latest version of the electric Chetak, known as the Bajaj Chetak Urbane, is priced at Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). If you want additional features and higher performance, you can choose the TecPac edition, which is available for an extra Rs 6,000 over the standard version.

Using a 2.9kWh battery, the standard Chetak Urbane can travel 113 kilometres on a full charge, according to IDC certification. It has one riding mode — Eco, and a top speed of 63km/h. However, you may get a maximum speed of 73km/h with a TecPac update. Hill hold, reverse mode, two riding modes (Sport and Eco), and smartphone connectivity are all included with the TecPac version.
