The 800DE Rally Edition features a steel frame chassis and an aluminium swingarm. In terms of suspension, the bike uses fully adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a preload- and rebound-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The Showa suspension on the bike has 220mm of travel at both ends.
The braking duties of the bike are carried out by twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 260mm disc at the rear, accompanied by a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). The bike sits on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels shod with off-road biased Bridgestone AX41 tyres.
Design-wise, the bike gets a short windscreen, a pronounced beak, and elevated handlebars for a more relaxed riding position. According to the manufacturer, the V-Strom 800DE is a touring bike with an off-road focus.
On the feature front, the new bike offers Suzuki Intelligent Ride System, including traction control, ride-by-wire, a bi-directional quick-shifter, low RPM assist, easy start, switchable dual-channel ABS, and ride modes (A, B, and C). All these features can be accessed via a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
At its heart is a parallel twin 776cc DOHC engine borrowed from the standard model. Power and torque figures stand at 82bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm, respectively. For transmission, the bike uses a 6-speed gearbox.
Recently, the standard Suzuki V-Strom 800DE adventure bike was spotted undergoing road testing on Indian streets, hinting that the manufacturer could launch the new variant of the V-Strom in our market shortly. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the launch. Once launched in India, the 800DE will face competition from the Triumph Tiger 850, BMW F 850 GS, and others.
