Suzuki V-Strom 800 Road-Focused Bike Unveiled, Gets 19-inch Front Wheel and Radial-Mount Callipers
Unveiled for the international market, the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 road-biased bike gets a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear cast alloy wheel.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has expanded the V-Strom portfolio by adding a road-going version of the V-Strom 800 DE adventure bike to the line-up. This new variant is called the V-Strom 800, and it gets cycle parts that make it more road-friendly than the 800 DE. Courtesy of Showa, the new V-Strom 800 gets an adjustable front fork along with a mono-shock with remote preload control for the suspension system. Suzuki has managed to achieve a more accessible seat height of 825mm, with lesser suspension travel at both ends. Both the front and rear suspension travel are said to be less than the 220mm (front) and 220mm (rear) travel of the off-road-oriented V-Strom 800 DE. As a result, the ground clearance has also reduced from 220mm to 185mm. While the V-Strom 800 comes with the same 'dual 310mm' front discs as earlier, the axial units (available with the 800 DE) have been replaced with a pair of four-piston radial-mount Nissin brake callipers. The rear end of the 800, on the other hand, receives a 260mm disc with a single-piston Nissin calliper.

Suzuki V-Strom 800: Other Key Updates
While the V-Strom 800 gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tyres, the V-Strom 800 DE gets 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres for better off-roadability.
Suzuki V-Strom 800: Features, Riding Aids
Feature-wise, the V-Strom 800 gets the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S), a 5.0-inch TFT display, three levels of traction control, a bi-directional quick-shifter, low RPM assist, ride-by-wire, and 3 riding modes – Active, Basic, Comfort – along with a height-adjustable windscreen. However, the road-biased bike misses out on the Gravel riding mode and switchable ABS.
Suzuki V-Strom 800: Engine, Output
At its heart is the same 776cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is nestled in a steel frame with an aluminium swing arm. Power and torque figures have not been made public as yet, but expect them to be similar to those of the 800 DE (82bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm).
Suzuki V-Strom 800: Size/Dimensions
The V-Strom 800 is 2,255mm long, 905mm wide, and 1,355mm tall and tips the scales at 223 kilograms (kerb weight). Its ground clearance and seat height sit at 185mm and 825mm, respectively.
Suzuki V-Strom 800: Price, Rivals
In the US, the 2024 iteration of the Suzuki V-Strom 800 starts at $ 9,899 (approx. Rs 8.22 lakh) for the Standard variant, whereas the Touring version carries a sticker price of $ 10,499 (approx.
