Suzuki E Burgman

The Suzuki e-Burgman is anticipated to go on sale in the Indian market sometime next year or even before that. The new e-scooter from Suzuki Motorcycle India will be based on the existing petrol-powered Burgman Street, in terms of styling. It will weigh 147kg, as opposed to the Burgman Street's 110kg kerb weight. The company is expected to pack the e-Burgman with a swappable battery unit, to standardise swappable batteries in partnership with Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. The e-Burgman underwent tests on multiple occasions, the purpose of which was, according to the company, to understand the evaluation and improvement requests for two types of moped electric scooters using replaceable batteries. Still, the e-scooter is in its testing stage. It could be available in different variants offering different range, if we go by some industry reports.

Suzuki e-Burgman: Styling, Features

Style-wise, the Suzuki e-Burgman could borrow cues from the existing Burgman Street 125. It could receive a maxi-style bodywork, a sport fascia, and butch side panels, with the exception of a colour scheme. It could also sport a full-LED headlamp, an LED taillamp, a short visor, and a step-up seat.

On feature front, the scooter could have a TFT screen, connectivity features as standard, ride modes, and maybe more features to fend off the competition in the market.

Suzuki e-Burgman: Hardware

The upcoming e-Burgman scooter is likely to be identical to the petrol-powered version, in terms of hardware. The production-spec electric scooter could be suspended with the help of telescopic forks and a disc brake at the front. Whereas the rear end could get dual-shocks, which is not similar to the Burgman Street 125 that has a rear mono-shock.

Suzuki e-Burgman: Powertrain & Performance

The Suzuki e-Burgman is powered by a synchronous AC motor with a capacity of 4kW, which offers a 44 kilometre range on a single charge when ridden under 60km/h. While the power and torque figures stand at 5.3bhp and 18Nm. The Class 2 light electric vehicle comes equipped with a swappable lithium-ion battery pack, since the company is a member of the Swappable Battery Consortium for Electric Scooters that strives to standardise swappable batteries and replacement systems.

It features a seat height of 780mm, which is accessible to shorter riders as well. Moreover, it is likely to come with similar riding ergonomics as the petrol version.

Suzuki e-Burgman: Price, Rivals

The Suzuki e-Burgman could retail between Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), which is higher than the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 that is priced at Rs 94,672 (ex-showroom). The new scooter will lock horns with the Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube, when launched in India.
