Suzuki has unveiled the SR75 V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition for the international market. The SR75 Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition is essentially the V-Strom 800 DE with offroad-oriented tyres, improved ergonomics, and a couple of extra features. Developed in partnership with the SR75 World Team Suzuki, the SR75 V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition will likely race in future rallies.
Along with a special SR75 racing livery from GP Grafix, the V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition boasts of an AS3 sump guard to protect the engine during offroading. Also sourced from AS3 are handlebar risers, atop which sits a set of bars borrowed from the Suzuki RM-Z450. Instead of Bridgestone AX41 tyres, this SR75 V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition comes with a pair of lightweight wheels wrapped in Dunlop D209RR off-road tyres. The rear wheel here is an 18-inch unit, while the front wheel is the same 21-inch unit. Also present is an FMF titanium exhaust system.

'Racing RM-Zs around the world might be our bread and butter, but we’re also always up for a project build like this. We produced the SR75 V-Strom 650XT a couple of years ago and, as soon as the 800DE was launched, we were always keen to get our hands on one. This is really stage one of the build and we will make some more modifications before we go racing, but we think we’ve taken what was already a solid base package for an adventure bike you could hard ride off-road or into town for a coffee – it’s that versatile and usable – and turned it into a bike that can hold its own in a competitive rally', said Geoff Walker, SR75 Suzuki team owner.
Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE Rally Edition: Engine, Hardware
Powering the Rally Edition is the same 776cc parallel-twin engine (84bhp), which is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Chassis-wise, the bike features a steel frame with a bolt-on subframe.
For suspension, the bike uses fully adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a preload- and rebound-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The Showa suspension on the bike has 220mm of travel at both ends. Stopping power comes from twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 260mm disc at the rear, accompanied by a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS).
This weekend (June 28 to June 30), the SR75 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Rally Edition will be on display at the Adventure Bike Rider Festival at Ragley Hall (UK), along with a range of V-Strom models.
