Royal Enfield's new offering will go on sale in two distinct variants – the Super Meteor 650 and Super Meteor 650 Tourer.
The Super Meteor 650, Royal Enfield's latest motorcycle, has been officially unveiled in India at the Rider Mania event, which is currently being held in Goa. While the bike has been revealed, it will be launched in January 2023 and will soon become not only Royal Enfield's new global flagship model but also the most expensive RE motorcycle on sale in the country. The Super Meteor 650 variant will be available in five colours – Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey, and Interstellar Green – while the Super Meteor 650 Tourer will be available in two colourways – Celestial Red and Celestial Blue. Pre-launch bookings for the Super Meteor 650 are now open exclusively for registered Rider Mania participants.
The Super Meteor 650 incorporates many features that are a first for a Royal Enfield. It comes with 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels and has a classic cruiser design, including kicked-out front pegs, along with upside-down front forks with 120mm of travel. Its 648cc parallel twin engine, which produces 52Nm of peak torque and 47bhp of maximum power, is the same as the one that powers models like the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor. The engine is also mated to the same 6-speed gearbox. Moreover, the ECU map and gear ratios have been adjusted by Royal Enfield to better suit the Super Meteor 650's relaxed cruiser style.
Other notable features of the bike include a twin-channel ABS, a 15.7-litre fuel tank, disc brakes on both wheels, and an instrument cluster with integrated tripper navigation. The Tourer version, meanwhile, will also include panniers, a pillion backrest, a new seat, and a variety of other touring-oriented equipment.
