Royal Enfield has expanded its 650cc lineup and brought out the new model. It is named the Bear 650 and adopts a scrambler-like design. While the Bear 650 shares round LED head- and tail-lamps with the Interceptor 650, it has a scrambler-styled seat, wider handlebars, neutrally positioned footpegs, and a revised tail section. Also different are its LED turn indicators and wheel sizes – a 19/17-inch combination with MRF Nylorex off-road tyres. The competition number board on the side panels lends a 'heritage scrambler look'.

Powering the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is the same 648cc parallel-twin engine as the Interceptor 650. That said, the former differentiates itself from the latter with a two-into-one exhaust system, which features blacked-out heat shields and offers more torque. The engine paired with a 6-speed transmission is rated for 47bhp at 7,250rpm and 56.5Nm of peak torque at 5,150rpm. While the power figure remains the same, the torque output has increased from 52Nm.

The steel chassis has been carried over from the Interceptor 650, but it has been revised to suit the character of the bike. The suspension setup of the Bear 650 consists of upside-down front forks and twin rear shocks, both Showa units. Thanks to this, the bike offers 130mm wheel travel at the front and 115mm at the rear. Meanwhile, the Interceptor 650 gets telescopic forks with 110mm wheel travel and twin gas-charged shocks with 88mm wheel travel.
