We compare the specifications and power figures of the Ola S1 Pro, Simple One, and the Ather 450X to see what the two new electric scooters have to offer in comparison to the already impressive Ather 450.

Ola and Simple Energy have both launched their first electric scooters in India. Ola’s S1 has been introduced at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Simple One demands Rs 1.1 lakh (ex-showroom). Ola has introduced the S1 in two variants – the higher variant, S1 Pro, packs a larger battery capacity and offers a longer range. The Ola S1 Pro costs Rs 1.3 lakh. For this comparison, we will consider the S1 Pro variant of Ola's offering. The third product on our list is the Ather 450, which has been on sale for the longest time in the segment. The Ather 450 is also available in two variants – Plus and X. In this comparison, we pit the higher 450X variant with the newly launched Ola S1 Pro and Simple One.

Range

On the list, the Simple One offers the highest (claimed) single-charge range of 236km, which is twice the range offered by the Ather 450X, which is 116km (claimed). The Ola S1 Pro gets a claimed range of 181km, whereas the standard model offers a range of 121km. All the scooters get different ride modes, which can compromise the range for increased performance. The range figures mentioned here are offered by the scooters in their most economic settings.

Power figures

The Ola S1 is the most powerful scooter of the lot; the Simple One, though, is not far behind. The Ather 450X, on the other hand, offers a power output of 6kW and the lowest torque figure. Below is the specifications chart for a detailed breakup.

Features

All three scooters get a large touch-operated screen for instrumentation. The same unit offers access to the connected tech features. All the scooters feature their respective operating systems to offer a unique user interface.

The S1 comes with cruise control, which makes it the only scooter on sale in the mass-market segment to have this feature, even when compared to petrol-powered scooters. Features such as geofencing, vehicle tracking are common to the three scooters. The Ola S1 gets the largest boot with 36-litres of storage space, while the Simple one gets a 30-litre boot space.

Mechanicals

All three scooters are offered with a removable battery pack, which can be charged in the comfort of your home. The Ather 450 and the Simple One get a conventional suspension system, which includes a telescopic fork unit at the front and a mono-shock unit at the rear. The Ola S1, however, gets a mono-shock setup at the front as well as the rear. A 12-inch wheel size on either end is common to the three electric scooters.

Pricing

The Ather 450X is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it the most expensive product on the list. The Ather 450 Plus is offered at a more affordable price of Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), which is still higher than the Simple One’s Rs 1.1 lakh  (ex-showroom). The standard variant of the Ola S1 costs Rs 1 lakh and still packs performance figures that are above that of the Ather 450X and closely matched to that of the Simple One.
