The company claims it's now the 'most pre-booked scooter in the world'!
Just last week, Ola Electric opened the order books for its debut product – an upcoming e-scooter – and to everyone's surprise, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led company has released a statement confirming that the customer response to the scooter has been beyond overwhelming and that they've already received over one lakh bookings.
However, this figure can also be attributed to the fact that the booking amount has been set at a bare minimum figure of ₹499. On the flip side, the one lakh bookings were received in just 24 hours! This makes it an achievement indeed.
At this point, only a few images of the scooter have been officially revealed and after a bit of digging, we came across a trademark document online that more or less confirms the name of the scooter – it's most likely to be called the 'Series S'. Ola Electric's also registered the names S1 and S1 Pro, which are most likely to be the two variants of the upcoming scooter. These details, along with the final specs, are yet to be confirmed. Even the launch date announcement is yet to happen, but our sources suggest that it could be launched within this month itself.
Unsurprisingly, Ola Electric seemed to have had a premonition of its scooter's overwhelming response. We say this because Ola Electric is busy chasing another record, that of building the world's 'largest, most advanced & greenest' two-wheeler manufacturing facility. It's being set up in Tamil Nadu, and once fully operational, it will have a total capacity of producing 10 million units per annum. The first phase though is expected to meet a demand of two million vehicles per annum.
If Ola Electric manages to meet these production figures, then expect its scooter to be priced aggressively and delivered to customers on time.
