Oben Rorr Electric Motorcycle Deliveries Begin, First 25 Units Dispatched in Bengaluru

More than a year after the launch of its flagship electric motorcycle in India in May 2022 - the Rorr - Oben Electric has now commenced its deliveries. The Bengaluru-based EV start-up delivered the first 25 units of its performance-oriented electric motorcycle to customers at the F2R (First to Rorr) event at their manufacturing facility in Jigani, Bengaluru. In addition, the first set of customers was also presented with exclusive merchandise to match with their Rorr motorcycle. Priced at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Oben Rorr is an affordably priced electric vehicle. The Rorr EV, which is claimed to get you from 0 to 40km/h in 3 seconds, offers first-in-segment free services in the first year of ownership to their customers. These services include a 50,000km/3-year warranty (extendable to five years or 75,000km, whichever is earlier), a 3-year motor warranty, free roadside assistance, and access to over 12,000 charging stations across the country.

Oben Rorr: Battery, Range

The Oben Rorr comes equipped with a 4.4kWh battery and an 8kW IPMSM motor, yielding an IDC range of 187 kilometres on a single charge. The only way to charge the battery is by using a 15Amp plug, for which you need a 15Amp socket. The motorcycle takes just 2 hours to be fully charged. A potential competitor to 150cc ICE-powered motorcycles in the country, the Rorr is said to have a top speed of 100km/h.   

Oben Rorr: Other Details

The Oben Rorr gets a neo-classic design. It is connected via an app that offers information such as ride details, battery status, geo-fencing, geo-tagging, battery theft protection, on-demand service, charging station locator, and roadside assistance.  

Oben Electric claims that it has received a total of 21,000 pre-orders for its flagship electric motorcycle. Its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru has an estimated production capacity of 3 lakh units a year, which the company remains committed to expanding. Besides, it has plans to open showrooms and service centres in every city and state, strengthening its presence pan-India.

Oben Rorr May 2023 Sales 

The Rorr e-bike witnessed massive sales growth in May 2023, despite a dip in EV sales owing to the reduction in subsidy. According to the company, its sales were largely driven by new-age design, better performance than a 150cc ICE-powered vehicle, smart features, and competitive pricing plus minimal operational cost.
