We already know that Yamaha is gearing up to launch two new intriguing motorcycles in the sub-500cc category: the MT-03 street naked and the fully-faired R3. For those unaware, recently, the all-new R3 and the MT 03 were displayed at a dealer event in India to test the audience's reaction, which was unarguably positive. It is interesting to note that Yamaha also displayed larger bikes at the same event, including the MT 07 and the YZF R7, which are almost certainly also coming to our shores. In terms of market competitors, the 2023 MT-03 will rival the segment leader, the KTM 390 Duke, while the updated R3 will compete against the KTM RC390. In a recent development, a few Yamaha dealers in India have begun taking unofficial reservations for the MT 03 and the R3 that will be launched in 2023. Depending on the dealership, the booking amount ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000. So let us give you all the details that you require about the KTM RC 390 rival before you get ready to purchase the R3 when it finally arrives.

New Yamaha R3: Exterior Styling
The 2023 R3's design is more aerodynamic than the one in the earlier iteration. It may not be as aggressive as its larger siblings and resembles the older-generation R1 more in terms of styling. The motorcycle has a full fairing with split headlamps and an air intake in the middle. The split seat configuration with a pointed tail section is another option. High-tinsel steel tubing serves as the foundation for the Yamaha R3's design, which reduces weight and ensures a 50-50 weight distribution. Additionally, it receives a central air duct, rear-set footpegs, and clip-on bars.
New Yamaha R3: Powertrain and Hardware Details
The engine in the Yamaha R3 hasn't changed significantly since 2019. It has a 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 40.4bhp of maximum power and 29.4Nm of peak torque. Hardware-wise, the motorcycle comes with 298mm front disc brakes, 220mm rear disc brakes, and 37mm KYB inverted front forks. Further, it has an adjustable rear monoshock as well as dual-channel ABS.
New Yamaha R3: Features
Moving on to the features, the R3 has a dual-channel ABS, an LCD instrument cluster, and LED headlamp and taillamp lighting. Additionally, it has forks that are turned upside down and golden fork bottles. But the R3 only has decent equipment when compared to its rivals, the KTM RC 390 and the Ninja 400.

New Yamaha R3: Expected Pricing
Before being discontinued in 2019, the motorcycle had an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.51 lakh. We can anticipate a price increase as a result of the updates the motorcycle has been given over time in foreign markets. A price tag of about Rs 4 lakh is therefore expected. Having said that, Yamaha is anticipated to introduce the 2023 R3 in India around the festive season in October and November.
