The revamped TVS Jupiter 110 is now available in India at a starting price of Rs 73,700. Compared to its more than a decade-old predecessor, the updated scooter has a distinctive design, a new engine displacement, and an extended range of features. Moreover, it comes in four variants: Drum Brakes (with steel wheels), Drum Brakes with alloy Wheels, Drum Brakes with SmartXonnect app connectivity, and a Front Disc Brake with SmartXonnect integration. In India's 110cc scooter market, the Jupiter 110 competes with the Honda Activa 6G and Hero Xoom 110. So, how does the updated TVS scooter fare against its Hero counterpart on paper?

The new Jupiter 110 has a sharper appearance than its predecessor and features several design improvements, including LED lighting at both ends. Notably, the top-spec versions now include a front and rear LED light bar with integrated indicators. In profile, the TVS scooter looks equally striking, with sharp design elements. Its tail portion gets a broader frame, which further accentuates its look.

The Xoom 110 marks Hero's entry into the sporty scooter segment. The bodywork looks sharp, and modern LED headlights and taillights add a contemporary touch. Moreover, the H-shaped DRL motif and the LED headlight give the front apron a distinctive appearance. The scooter has wide seating and a well-designed rear end, which includes a grab rail and an appealing LED taillight.

While the Hero Xoom 110 (1881mm) is a bit longer than the Jupiter 110 (1848mm), the latter is taller at 1,258mm. In terms of wheelbase, the Hero is 25mm longer than the Jupiter. Refer to the following table for detailed information regarding the dimensions of both scooters.

The Jupiter 110 is powered by a new 113.3 cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, producing 9.2Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm and 7.9bhp at 6,500rpm. The torque figure can be increased to 9.8Nm with the use of iGO assist technology. The Hero scooter, on the other hand, is driven by a 110.9cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, which generates 8.05bhp of maximum power at 7,250rpm and 8.70Nm of peak torque at 5,750rpm.

The Jupiter features a 220mm disc or a 130mm drum at the front and a 130mm drum at the back. In comparison, the Hero Xoom features a 130mm drum at the back and a slightly smaller 190mm disc or a 130mm drum at the front. However, both models have the same front tyre size of 90/90-12. However, the top-spec models of the Hero Xoom 110 have a slightly wider rear tyre, measuring 100/80-12.

The TVS scooter has an internal fuel filler cap, a digital instrument cluster, an LCD instrument cluster, TVS's SmartXonnect smartphone connectivity, and an LED lightbar on the front apron, among other features. It is the only scooter in its category to feature an integrated starter generator. In contrast, the Hero two-wheeler comes equipped with a fully digital console, Bluetooth connectivity, the i3s engine start/stop function, cornering LED lamps (a first for this class), and integrated LED DRLs.

New TVS Jupiter 110 vs Hero Xoom 110: Price

The Jupiter 110 costs between Rs 73,700 and Rs 87,250. On the other hand, the Hero Xoom ranges from Rs 71,484 to Rs 79,967. The base Xoom model costs approximately Rs 2,200 less than the entry-level Jupiter model. However, the latter's top-spec avatar costs Rs 7,300 more than its Hero rival. All prices are ex-showroom.
