Triumph has unveiled the 2025 iteration of the Rocket 3 Storm R and Storm GT models to commemorate 20 years of the moniker. There are many similarities between both variants, with the majority of the differences being seen in aspects like paint options and ergonomics. A muscle bike with the biggest engine on a production motorcycle, the Rocket 3 gets a 15bhp power boost as part of the latest revamp. This brings the model's maximum power output from the earlier 165bhp to 180bhp. Moreover, the peak torque from the bike's 2,458cc in-line triple engine has also slightly increased to 220Nm at 4,000rpm. It is important to note that the base-spec R and GT variants will still be available for purchase with the same power and torque output as before. A revamped bodywork as well as lighter wheels are among other significant modifications.
New Triumph Rocket 3 Storm: Design Components
Both variants of the new Triumph Rocket 3 follow essentially the same stylistic theme. The bike has a dual-tone finish with black and any other colour the buyer opts for (Satin Pacific Blue, Sapphire Black, and Carnival Red). The all-black-anodised components also comprise the rear frame forging, swingarm guard, fork lowers and yokes, risers and handlebar clamps, RSU Rocker, seat finisher, footrests and hangers for the rider and pillion, brake and gear pedals, levers, and a side stand. The darker look is enhanced by triangular DRLs and all-LED lighting. Additionally, the maker refers to the new Storm's 10-spoke cast wheels as "sportier." The front and rear wheels still span 17-inch and 16-inch, respectively.
New Triumph Rocket 3 Storm: Feature List
The extensive set of features from the base models is retained in both the Rocket R and GT Storm versions. These include four riding modes, keyless ignition, cruise control, and hill hold control. Heated grips are an option on the R model, but they come standard on the GT trim. For a higher price, other aids such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), smartphone connectivity for the TFT unit, and a quick shifter can also be obtained.
New Triumph Rocket 3 Storm: Ergonomics and Hardware
The Rocket 3 R features forward-leaning handlebars and mid-mounted footpegs for vertical adjustment. It is sportier than the GT, which has a more relaxed appearance. Additionally, the GT has forward-mounted footpegs that can be adjusted by 50mm in three horizontal position settings. With an adjustable, contoured touring seat with greater padding than the R and a standard backrest, the GT also provides improved comfort for the pillion.
On the front wheel of both bikes are Brembo Stylema calipers containing two 320mm discs, while on the back wheel is a Brembo M4.32 four-piston radial monobloc caliper carrying a 300mm disc. Showa monoshock with a fully adjustable piggyback reservoir at the back and 47mm adjustable for rebound and compression damping handle suspension duties.
New Triumph Rocket 3 Storm: Improved Performance
The engine is, of course, a vital aspect of this modern beast. As mentioned before, it is identical to the unit that produced 165bhp in the previous generation Rocket 3, with three in-line cylinders and a total displacement of 2,458cc. However, the only deviation comes in the form of performance, which has been increased to 180bhp with the new Rocket 3 Storm. The torque output has also been enhanced by about 4Nm to 220Nm. Thanks to a better understanding of the engine, the bikemaker claims they were able to unleash more potential from the updated bikes without adding any new parts.
New Triumph Rocket 3 Storm: India Launch Timeline
According to the manufacturer, the 2024 iteration of the Rocket 3 R and GT Storm models will be available at dealerships in certain international markets on April 24. Although there is currently no information on the new Rocket 3 Storm's India launch, it won't be long before the powerful model makes an appearance in our country given that Triumph sells all of its foreign models here.
