Will sit above the Street 750 in Harley Davidson’s line-up
In the midst of all the ongoing madness at the Geneva Motor Show, Harley-Davidson has quietly taken the wraps off a new offering that will sit above the Street 750 in its product portfolio. This is the new Harley Davidson Street Rod.
Although the Street Rod borrows some of its design cues from the Harley Davidson Street 750, like the tear drop shaped fuel tank, the circular headlamp and even the exhaust, Harley Davidson has done well to make sure it looks fresh and exclusive.
In fact, the Street Rod has a lot in common with the Street sibling right from the 750cc Revolution X V-twin unit. Harley says in the Street Rod the engine will make 20 percent more power and 10 percent more torque. The American bike maker has managed to improve the figures by fitting it with a larger airbox, 42mm throttle bodies, new four-valve cylinder heads and a larger exhaust. Expect the ergonomics to be extremely different from the Street 50 too courtesy the taller seat height with reshaped seat and flat drag-styled handle bars. Forged gear and brake levers and aluminium foot pegs have also been fitted on the Street Rod.
To ensure that it remains true to its nature, Harley has even played around with the chassis geometry. It features 43mm USDs up front and new shocks at the back with 31 percent more travel. To make space for the larger rear suspension, the swing arm has been lengthened. The Street Rod sits on 17-inch wheels at the front as well as at the back.
The new Harley Davidson Street Rod will make it to our shores soon. When it is launched, expect it to be priced around Rs 50,000 higher than the Street 750.
