BMW Motorrad India has teased the automotive industry with its new M 1000 RR, which is the track-focused version of the standard S 1000 RR sportbike. This hints that its launch is imminent, probably in the coming weeks. BMW’s M division is renowned for its high-performance models, and the BMW M 1000 RR is the first-ever M-badged motorcycle that arrived on our shores back in 2021. And now, the company is preparing to launch the latest iteration of the M 1000 RR in India, with increased aerodynamics, lightweight carbon fibre components, and additional features.
With these upgrades, we expect the upcoming bike to command a premium over the previous model, which currently starts at Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, the Ducati Panigale V4 R is the only road-legal competition to the BMW M 1000 RR. For reference, the Panigale V4 R is priced at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).

New BMW M 1000 RR: Engine
The M 1000 RR's 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine produces 209bhp of power at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. The increased output is a result of the BMW ShiftCam technology, CNC-machined intake ports, and 2-ring forged pistons. Apart from this, the engine also boasts adapted combustion chambers, titanium connecting rods, and lighter rocker arms. The exhaust system is lighter as it is made of titanium. According to BMW, the motorcycle tops out at 314km/h, an increase from 306km/h on the S 1000 RR.
New BMW M 1000 RR: Design and Cycle Parts
The new BMW M 1000 RR is a sporty and dynamic bike, with a redesigned rear section, a short number plate holder, and an M endurance seat. Its fairing is fashioned out of exposed carbon fibre, thereby enhancing speed and improving airflow. While its redesigned winglets provide 22.6kg of downforce - giving more grip as well as better braking stability. Plus, the bike comes with a taller windscreen, when juxtaposed with the standard model.
The new M 1000 RR comes with BMW’s ‘M’ grade engine parts and components. M brakes, which are borrowed from racing brakes used in the World Superbike Championship, have a blue anodised coating and feature an M logo. Besides, the bike is kitted out with M Competition parts, including M milled components, an M carbon package, an M endurance chain, a light swingarm, and a passenger package with a tail-hump cover. For improved braking performance, the bike gets brake cooling ducts that are integrated into the front mudguard. On offer are also forged wheels, which are available as an option.
New BMW M 1000 RR: Suspension, Braking
Since the M 1000 RR is a track-focused bike, its aluminium chassis features a number of tweaks, along with an optimised upside-down fork and a revised central spring strut with Full Floater Pro kinematics. Whereas the swingarm pivot point comes with extended adjustability. Braking duties are taken care of by 320mm twin discs with 4-piston callipers at the front and a single disc with a 2-piston calliper at the rear.

New BMW M 1000 RR: Features
On the feature front, the upcoming BMW M 1000 RR gets the latest generation of traction and wheelie control with a 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS, adjustable engine braking levels, 4 racing modes - Road, Rain, Dynamic, and Race, and 3 Race Pro modes. The bike's instrument cluster houses a 6.5-inch TFT display with an 'M' start animation. There is also launch control, clutchless-gear shifts, hill-start assist, an OBD interface for GPS-tracked data logging, a USB charging socket, integrated LED lights, etc.
