The upcoming Ather electric scooter, quite akin to the existing Ather 450, has been recently spied being tested on Indian roads. The camo-free spy shots affirm that a new test mule was spotted in BTM Layout, Bengaluru. The new Ather electric scooter could be an entry-level variant for the Indian market. Ather Energy is one of the top electric vehicle brands in the country aiming to make EVs more affordable and better alternatives to ICE-powered vehicles. And with the introduction of the entry-level Ather electric, the company is likely to keep its price under Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). To achieve affordable pricing, the scooter is expected to get a smaller battery pack and fewer features.

Battery and Hardware
As opposed to the existing 450X Gen3, the new electric scooter will come with a less powerful motor and have a slightly lesser range. The battery size of the brand’s entry-level variant could be smaller than the 3.7kWh unit on the Gen3 model. And for that matter, the new budget scooter could have a range of up to 80 kilometre on a single charge.
As for the hardware, the upcoming Ather model may be underpinned by a lucrative tubular chassis, in contrast to the Aluminium space frame that the 450X and the 450 Plus have. For suspension duties, we will have telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear.
Features
In terms of features, the entry-level variant of the Ather brand is anticipated to borrow a 7-inch touchscreen instrument console from its sibling. Other features include an LED headlamp, turn indicators, tail light, Google integration suite, along with connectivity features like geo-fencing and GPS navigation.
