Bajaj Auto launched its first mass-market CNG bike last month in India – the Freedom 125. With bookings underway pan India, Bajaj plans to expand the CNG bike's reach by making it available in 77 Indian cities by August 15, 2024, India's 78th Independence Day.

Priced from Rs 95,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Bajaj Freedom 125 currently comes in three variants: Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED. That much was already known, but a test mule of what appears to be a more affordable version of the CNG bike has been spied testing in India and, unlike the Freedom 125, the more affordable motorcycle could target the 100cc commuter segment.

Considering that, expect the more affordable variant of the Freedom CNG to have a sloper-style, smaller-capacity single-cylinder engine compared to the existing Freedom, which uses a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The 125cc engine develops 9.3bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm while being hooked up to a five-speed gearbox. Other components including the main frame and 2-litre CNG tank are expected to be carried over.

More Affordable Bajaj Freedom CNG: What Spy Shots Reveal?

Front the front, the more affordable Bajaj Freedom CNG could differ from the Freedom 125 – smaller fork sleeve protectors, a halogen headlamp, and a simpler mudguard design. As part of cost-cutting measures, the front fender has a single-tone colour rather than a dual-tone finish, while the test mule lacks the noticeable cowl around the telescopic fork found on the Freedom 125.

At the rear, the upcoming bike could feature a silver-finished grab handle as well as a longer tyre hugger to protect from rainwater spray. And finally, the exhaust heat shield should be finished in chrome.

Being the more affordable variant, it should offer a basic instrument cluster (LCD) without Bluetooth support. Braking duties are expected to be carried out by drum brakes at both ends. The launch date is under wraps, but expect the more affordable Freedom CNG bike to be launched in the coming months.
