The KTM 390 SMC R has been spotted testing in India for the first time, signaling the potential launch of a new supermoto offering in the country. For those unfamiliar, supermoto bikes are known to be adaptable and capable of performing well on various terrains. This test mule showcases key features such as 17-inch wire-spoke wheels, which align with the supermoto styling and promise agile handling on city streets and light off-road terrain. The motorcycle also appears to incorporate a trellis frame, a hallmark of KTM’s design philosophy, and components borrowed from the 390 Duke. The spy shots reveal an upright riding stance, typical of supermoto models, aimed at maximising rider control. With its unique styling and advanced components, the KTM 390 SMC R could bring a fresh dynamic to India’s performance bike segment.

KTM 390 SMC R Spotted: Key Discounts
After its global debut at EICMA 2024 in November, the KTM 390 SMC R has now appeared on Indian roads. The most recent spy shots show the test mule outfitted with 17-inch wire-spoke wheels at both the front and rear, which are likely sport tubeless tyres in the production model. The bike spotted also has a saree guard. Additionally, another spy shot from two months back revealed the 390 SMC R with 17-inch alloy wheels. The Indian market could get the model in both the wire-spoke and alloy wheel versions.
The soon-to-be-launched 2025 KTM 390 SMC R will feature a standard long-travel suspension system. Based on the 390 Adventure S platform, the new 390 SMC R is propelled by a 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. It belts out 45.3bhp of maximum power and 39Nm of peak torque, similar to the 390 Duke. However, KTM is likely to adjust the drive ratio to better suit supermoto dynamics. More details regarding the India-bound model's mechanical specs are under wraps.
