KTM India has begun shipping its powerful naked street motorcycle, the 1390 Super Duke R. The big bike was launched alongside the 890 Adventure R, and the 1290 Super Adventure S last month. In typical KTM fashion, it has an aggressive and bold design. The orange colour and the angular, sculpted bodywork add to its powerful appearance. The bike features an LED headlight, complemented by unique boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. KTM offers an array of electronic aids with the bike to boost performance and safety. These include a selection of riding modes, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and, a lean-sensitive traction control system.

Riders can also choose to activate an advanced anti-wheelie feature, which can be completely turned off when preferred. All of these functions are controlled via a Bluetooth-enabled TFT panel. Let’s delve into some more details of the 1390 Super Duke R.
KTM 1390 Super Duke R: Engine
The 1390 Super Duke R, a successor to the 1290 Super Duke, is powered by a 1,350cc V-twin LC8 engine that also propels the 1390 Super Duke GT. The unit is tuned to produce an impressive 188bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 145Nm at 8,000rpm. It boasts several upgrades, including a new camshaft, larger inlet diameter, and shorter throttle bodies. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and is equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter.
KTM 1390 Super Duke R: Hardware
The 1390 Super Duke R has tubular steel as its main frame and a more compact sub-frame. For suspension, it uses a fully adjustable 48mm upside-down fork and a monoshock, both sourced from WP. The braking is handled by dual 320mm discs paired with Brembo Stylema callipers.

The bike is equipped with 17-inch wheels shod with Michelin Power GP tyres. It has a fuel capacity of 17.5 litres, and a seat height of 834mm.

Although KTM has not made an official announcement, several rumours in the industry indicate that the new 390 Adventure X and the Adventure R will mark their debut at the 11th edition of India Bike Week (IBW), set to start on December 6. Notably, the R variant of the bike was showcased at EICMA last month.
