A couple of days after teasing the new in-line four-cylinder-based Ninja ZX-4R, the Indian arm of Kawasaki Motorcycles has launched the bike in the country. The new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it the most expensive 400cc motorcycle in the Indian market - even dearer than the Versys 650 adventurer tourer that is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.77 lakh. The new Ninja ZX-4R is already available for purchase in international markets and has now been added to the Japanese manufacturer's line-up of in-line four-cylinder motorcycles running on Indian roads. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R goes on sale in India as a completely built up-unit (CBU) and is therefore pricey. Powering the new Kawasaki bike is a 399cc inline four-cylinder engine that cranks out 39Nm of peak torque at 13,000rpm and 78bhp at 14,500rpm with RAM air intake (75bhp without RAM air assistance). This liquid-cooled engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It remains to be seen whether Kawasaki will offer a quick-shifter as a standard or as an optional feature.
