Kawasaki Ninja Range: Powertrain

The biggest Kawasaki Ninja 650 uses a 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. The engine is tuned to produce 67bhp and 64Nm of peak torque. The bike also gets switchable traction control, and takes on the Triumph Daytona 660 in the segment. Powering the Ninja 500 – the successor to the Ninja 400 – is a 451cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that makes 45bhp and 43Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, supplemented by a slipper clutch. The supersport bike rivals the KTM RC 390 and the Yamaha YZF-R3.

2024 Kawasaki Ninja 650

The heavily localised Ninja 300, launched in June 2024, gets an eight-valve, liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel twin 296cc DOHC engine with a fuel-injection system. The engine develops 38.4bhp at 11,000rpm and 26.1Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. Again, the transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed unit and a slipper clutch.
