The Ninja 1000SX and the Versys 1000 motorcycles are no longer available for purchase in India since Kawasaki has formally removed them from their official website. Although the Indian arm of the Japanese bike manufacturer hasn't provided an official explanation, we can presume that the two models were withdrawn from the website to make room for the upgraded iterations of the motorcycles. Notably, the two bikes are still up for sale, however, only a small number of dealers have them in stock. Even though neither the Ninja 1000SX nor the Versys 1000 were ever big sellers, owners have had nothing but positive things to say about them regarding their performance and dependability. Moreover, the brand is anticipated to roll out the updated models in the coming months. Here's a brief overview of both the delisted bikes.
Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX: Engine Specs and Other Details
The potent 1,043cc air-cooled four-cylinder engine powering the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX developed a remarkable 140bhp of peak power at 10,000rpm. Furthermore, its 111Nm of maximum torque complemented the significant power output. The sport-tourer featured an aggressive 19-litre fuel tank and claimed a mileage of 17km/l. A six-speed manual gearbox was used to transmit power on the motorcycle. Besides this, a full-colour TFT instrument panel, split-type seats, dual LED headlights, an upright windscreen, an upswept exhaust, 17-inch designer wheels, and a sleek LED taillight served as the highlights of the Ninja 1000SX.
In addition to dual-channel ABS, traction control, cruise control, a ride-by-wire throttle, and riding modes, the Ninja 1000SX had disc brakes on both wheels for added rider safety. Inverted forks on the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock unit on the back took care of suspension chores on the bike. With the recent discontinuation of 1000SX in India, a total of nine Ninja models remain on sale including the entry-level Ninja 300 and the Ninja 400.
Kawasaki Versys 1000: Mechanical Specs and Features
Mechanically, the motorcycle was fuelled by a 1,043cc inline 4-cylinder engine producing 118bhp of maximum power at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 102Nm at 7,500rpm. A six-speed gearbox with a slipper-and-assist clutch setup handled power transmission duties. On the design front, the 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000 came with a step-up seat design, a side-slung exhaust, an adjustable windscreen, a twin-pod headlight, a fairing with integrated cornering lights, and a rear luggage rack.
Moving on, the feature set comprised all-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue-style tachometer, a multifunction TFT-coloured LCD screen, an electronic cruise control system, an anti-lock braking system, traction control, assist and slipper clutch, smartphone connectivity, and a Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that controls the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function. As for its hardware, the suspension system consisted of a monoshock at the back along with 43mm upside-down front forks. The bike's dual 310mm disc brake system with 4-piston callipers up front was used for braking. A single 250mm disc brake with a single-piston calliper was mounted on the back end. Lastly, the 2023 Versys 1000 was fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres.
