Classic Legends has just expanded their Jawa line-up with the introduction of the 42 in a version 2.1 avatar. As the name rightly suggests, this is not an all-new motorcycle, but a new interpretation of the popular 42. The Jawa 42 version 2.1 is priced at Rs 1.84 lakh. In comparison, the older 42, which continues to be on sale, is priced at Rs 1.77 lakh. Both prices ex-showroom Delhi.
So, what’s new in the version 2.1? The biggest and most easily noticeable change is the switch from spoke rims to alloy wheels. This has also allowed Jawa to fit the new offering with tubeless tyres – sizes remain the same though, 90/90-18 at the front and 120/80-17 at the rear. Jawa will also offer these alloy wheels to existing customers as an accessory.
There’s also a new paint theme. All the chrome bits from the standard 42 now get a black finish, and that includes, the headlight surround, exhaust pipes and everything in between. The 42 version 2.1 also gets racing stripes on the fuel tank and for the first time, incorporation of the Classic Legends name. Jawa has also revised the seat padding for enhanced comfort. The windscreen and the front grille shown in these pictures are offered as an accessory.
There’s no mechanical change in the 42 version 2.1 from the older model. It continues to be powered by a 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that develops 27bhp and 27Nm. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. Braking power comes from the same 280mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. Unlike the standard model, the version 2.1 is only available with a dual-channel ABS.
The Jawa 42 version 2.1 is offered in three new paint schemes – Onion Red, Sirius White and Allstar Black.
