This will be the only Superleggera India will ever get.
Ducati India has successfully delivered the only 1299 Superleggera allotted to India to its customer - Vikram Oberoi. Vikram is a Ducati aficionado, and the Superleggera joins three other Ducatis already present in his fleet - 1299 Panigale S, 916 and 1098.
For the unaware, the Ducati 1299 Superleggera is a limited-edition exotic, and perhaps the most sinister motorcycle in the Italian manufacturer’s line-up. The production of the Superleggera was only limited to 500 units globally, with only one unit allotted to India. The only unit up for sale was priced at Rs. 1.12 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) - yes, you read that right.
After paying a whopping sum of over a crore rupees, what Vikram has got is a landmark in the field of motorcycle technology. The 1299 Superleggera gets a healthy dose of carbon fibre treatment in the construction of its single-sided swingarm, rear subframe, fairing and wheels. All these combined help this exotic to weigh just 156kg (dry).
The lightweight body is mated to a bonkers motor - in fact, the most powerful stock twin-cylinder the world has ever seen. With 215bhp to play with, the Superleggera makes for one of the world’s most rapidly accelerating motorcycles. To keep such performance under control, Ducati has also included a full electronics package including Ducati Traction Control Evo, Ducati Slide Control and is also the first ever Ducati superbike to be equipped with Ducati Power Launch.
Taming this monster of a motorcycle is newly calibrated Bosch Cornering ABS system that ensures matchless braking in complete safety. The 1299 Superleggera is also delivered with a track kit that includes Ducati performance components that comprise a complete titanium Akrapovi? racing exhaust, a racing screen, a plate holder removal kit and mirror replacement plugs among other accessories.
Commenting on the occasion, Ravi Avalur, Managing Director of Ducati said, “The 1299 Superleggera is one of the most exclusive motorcycles in the world, with only 500 units produced. Redefining the definition of the term “superbike”, it offers unmatched technology in a limited edition targeting the true connoisseur. We are very proud to deliver the only 1299 Superleggera in India to Vikram.”
