After unveiling in October 2018, Indian Motorcycles commenced bookings of the FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica in December. Both motorcycles come powered by a 1,203cc V-twin that churns out 118bhp and 112Nm

Eight months after the booking commenced, Indian Motorcycles has finally set a date for the launch of the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica. The American motorcycle maker will officially launch these motorcycles on 19th August. Prices were already announced in December 2018. The FTR 1200 S carries a price tag of Rs 14.99 lakh, while the Race Replica demands Rs 15.49 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Bookings had commenced with a minimum booking amount of Rs 2 lakh.

Coming to the motorcycle, the FTR 1200 is inspired by a concept of the same name that was showcased at EICMA in 2017. The concept was a lot more eccentric than the production model, which is a relatively sobered down version of it. That being said, it is still quite a looker. It gets the signature round headlight fitted with LEDs, the fat golden USDs, which add visual mass to the front end, and a red frame, which gives it a sense of contrast. It also comes with a large informative screen for the instrument cluster.

At the heart, the FTR 1200 S and the 1200 S Race Replica are powered by the same motor. The motorcycles produce 118bhp and 112Nm from a 1,203cc V-twin liquid-cooled motor. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. Features list includes a six-axis inertial sensor with stability control from Bosch, riding modes, cornering ABS and more. The bike sits on a 19-inch alloy at the front and an 18-inch one at the back. The FTR 1200 S doesn’t quite have a direct rival in India, which gives it a unique status in the market.
