The Indian Chieftain Elite will sit atop the Bagger line-up of the Indian Motorcycle range in India...
Revealed last year, the Indian Chieftain Elite will be officially launched in India on August 12, based on the information revealed by Indian Motorcycle India. The Chieftain Elite forms a part of Indian's Chieftain range of touring motorcycles. Interestingly, the Chieftain Elite is already listed as a new model on Indian Motorcycle India's website and Indian has also reported that the Chieftain Elite will see a limited-production run of just 350 units for the global markets. What puts the Chieftain Elite a cut above the rest is the fact that no two Chieftain Elites will look similar! Yes, this is due to the fact that the classic cruiser will come with a custom hand-finished paint job that takes 25 man hours to complete.
In terms of the mechanical specs, it will be powered by Indian's signature motor - the 1,811cc Thunder Stroke 111 V-twin engine which churns out a hefty 161.6Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm. The Chieftain Elite will also come fitted with twin, 300mm discs at the front and a single 300mm disc at the rear. The suspension setup will remain identical to the regular Indian Chieftain.
Keeping in mind that it will sit in the line-up as a top-spec model, it will come with additional features and gizmos to justify its premium tag. The additional features which could potentially make it to the Indian-spec model include adjustable, aluminium billet passenger floorboards, a tinted, flare power windshield and pinnacle mirrors. The Chieftain Elite will also feature the Ride Command system which works through a 7-inch glove-compatible touchscreen display showing turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, vehicle information and will also serve as the interface for smartphone connectivity and an upgraded 200-watt surround sound audio system with saddle speakers.
