Husqvarna is preparing to unveil its all-new middleweight motorcycle, the Svartpilen 801, on March 19 this year. However, prior to this, the Swedish brand has teased the pre-production model on social media, revealing a few design details. These include a circular LED headlamp with an integrated DRL ring, single-piece tubular handlebars, and an upswept exhaust system. Then, there is a headlight grille, likely to be offered as an accessory on the production-spec Svartpilen 801.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: Powertrain
As with other Husqvarna motorcycles, the upcoming Svartpilen 801 will likely be KTM-based. This means that the biggest displacement bike could get the same 799cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as the KTM 790 Duke. While the torque figure is yet to be revealed, the engine in the Svartpilen 801 will churn out 103.5bhp (105hp), slightly higher than the 2024 KTM 790 Duke – unveiled last year with two new colour options. The transmission duties will be taken care of by a six-speed gearbox, assisted by a bi-directional quick-shifter.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: Hardware
The new Husqvarna motorcycle is expected to feature the same tubular chassis as the 790 Duke. Meanwhile, the suspension setup will comprise upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, both sourced from WP-Apex. With dual-channel ABS, expect the braking hardware to include a single disc on either end, mounted on 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in block pattern tyres.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: Electronic Aids
Husqvarna says the Svartpilen 801 will come with state-of-the-art electronic rider aids, while also noting that the 'class-leading technology package maximises the riding experience and safety throughout every ride'. Apart from Easy Shift as standard, the bike will likely offer traction control, a Supermoto ABS mode, ride modes, and a TFT console with smartphone connectivity. The motorcycle tips the scales at 181 kilograms; however, it remains to be seen whether this is dry or kerb weight.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: India Launch on Cards?
The bike on which the Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 is based is not sold in our market as yet. So, it is highly unlikely the Swedish bikemaker would bring its bike here.
Husqvarna Svartpilen Lineup in India
Currently, Husqvarna only offers the Svartpilen 401 in the Indian market. Launched in January 2024, the bike is priced at Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the smaller capacity Svartpilen 250, the 2024 iteration is anticipated to launch soon in the country. Late last month, the Svartpilen 250 was homologated, revealing its gross weight, wheelbase, and more.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 will be based on the current KTM 250 Duke – meaning the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 will come powered by a new-generation 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, dubbed the LC4c.
