Husqvarna launched the Svartpilen 401 in India this January for Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At that time, the bike's premium Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR dual-purpose tyres were one of its main selling points. Sadly, the bike has now swapped its high-end Pirelli STRs for local Apollo tyres. While Husqvarna is yet to make a formal announcement, the units of the Svartpilen 401 reaching approved KTM/Husqvarna outlets with Apollo tyres give the nod to the change. According to market reports, Husqvarna's current move is prompted by a recent government rule that bans OEMs from importing tyres when a locally manufactured substitute in the same size is available. This action aims to help the local tyre makers and support the Make-in-India campaign. However, it is important to note that the current ban on importing tyres only applies to bike manufacturers, not dealers. Customers can buy Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres from tyre dealers, which will incur additional costs. Let's take a quick look at other details of Husqvarna's street bike in more detail.
