Svartpilen, Vitpilen, and now the E-Pilen! Husqvarna has showcased the electric motorcycle concept that is likely to make its way to the Indian market. However, the E-Pilen is in the concept stage and the prototype is likely to debut in the coming months
Husqvarna E-Pilen, an all-electric concept has been showcased digitally. While the images have been unveiled, for now, the development of the all-electric urban motorcycle has reached advanced stages. Husqvarna will soon be releasing its technical details and pictures of the prototype in the near future. Currently, we know that the E-Pilen gets a swappable battery pack and the motor is capable of pushing out 10.7bhp.
The claimed range is 100km and to give a perspective, the Ather 450X has a claimed range of 85km (in Eco mode). The Revolt RV400 that is also on sale in India gets a range of 150km (in Eco mode).
The E-Pilen gets scrambler-like styling, more in line with the Svartpilen series of motorcycles, however with more futuristic bits. The chassis and cycle parts could be shared as well, the suspension units, swing arm, and braking system could be common between the Svartpilen and E-Pilen motorcycles too. The body panels, however, are minimum and the seat gets a single-piece design – just as the Svartpilen.
The handlebars are widespread to offer a more relaxed rider’s triangle and the concept motorcycle is not equipped with a traditional instrument cluster. The production motorcycle could be equipped with a TFT-LCD screen, just as the premium KTM motorcycles.
The production model could be ready by the end of this year. Husqvarna could consider the launch of its E-Pilen in India given that Bajaj, its parent company has already ventured into the EV space with its Chetak.
