Within a year after it sold more than 3 crore units of the Activa in the country, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has hit a new milestone. HMSI delivered over 6 crore (60 million) two-wheelers across India, solidifying its position in the Indian market. It took nearly 23 years for the two-wheeler manufacturer to achieve this feat. HMSI reached its first 10 millionth unit in eleven years and saw this number rise to 2 crore (20 million) in the next three years. It then surpassed 3 crore (30 million) units in April 2017. And, the last 3 crore customers joined the Honda family in under seven years, driving past the 6 crore-unit mark in March 2024.
"Achieving this sales milestone is a testament to the trust and confidence that Indian consumers have placed in the brand Honda. We are immensely proud of this accomplishment, and as we look ahead, we remain dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our customers and contributing positively to the growth & development of the Indian two-wheeler industry," said Mr Tsutsumu Otani, MD, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
Over the last two decades, HMSI has sold the Activa, first introduced in the country in 2001. In June last year, the company's bestselling scooter surpassed the 3 crore sales milestone. According to the two-wheeler manufacturer, the Active is the only scooter in the domestic market to achieve historic success in only 22 years. The model is now in its sixth generation in India and comes with a Honda Smart Key.
