Honda CL300 Scrambler Breaks Cover in China; Could it Soon Debut in India?
Honda has unveiled the CL300, a brand-new motorcycle with scrambler-like look in China. According to the bikemaker, the CL300 is intended for customers who prefer off-road adventure. The price of the motorcycle will be announced later.
Honda has introduced its compact, scrambler-styled model in China, based on the iconic Honda Rebel 300. The Honda CL300, as it is dubbed, comes after the manufacturer recently unveiled the nearly identical CL250 in China in November 2022.
Speaking of the powertrain, the 286cc engine of the motorcycle produces a maximum power output of 25.7bhp. The Honda CL300 has a top speed of approximately 125km/h. The motor is coupled with a six-speed transmission. However, it is still not confirmed whether or not the gear ratios for the new CL300 have been changed by the manufacturer.
The CL300 is built on the popular Rebel 300 cruiser platform. The Japanese manufacturer claims to have tried to make its new offering more capable off-road. The CL300, much like the Rebel 300, appears to be designed more for stability than for handling and agility based on its 1,488mm wheelbase. But unlike the Rebel 300, this model has an upright riding stance and a scrambler-like appearance.

The small 16-inch wheels of the motorcycle have been replaced with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The redesigned sub-frame enables the CL300 to have a taller stance. The fuel tank has been updated to look tougher. In addition to these modifications, Honda has added a new single-piece long scrambler seat to the CL300. The CL500's high-mounted exhaust layout has been adapted for the CL300.
The Honda CL300 is available in two variants - standard and premium. The premium version comes loaded with a host of features such as a raised front mudguard, a headlight cowl, a side number board, and hand guards.

The price of the new CL300 has not yet been announced by Honda in China. As far as the motorcycle's Indian debut is concerned, considering that Honda already sells the Honda CB300F in India, it is unclear at this time if the bikemaker would want to launch another 300cc motorcycle in a market where it is not currently the market leader. It is also likely that Honda may build something similar for India using its CB350 platform.
