Where the overall two-wheeler industry grew by a not-so-much 3%, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India reported a 14% growth in January 2015.
We don’t remember the last time we heard of HMSI ‘not doing well’. Once again, the Japanese two-wheeler maker has reported a very impressive growth figure. This time, in terms of January sales.
The second biggest two-wheeler maker in India sold 3,93,787 units in January this year as compared to 3,44,750 units sold last January. This makes a growth of almost 14% for HMSI.
The domestic market contributed 3,77,325 units to the overall sales which also grew at 14% this January. Exports for the month of January stood at 16,462 units.
Honda also said that its market share had risen to 28% by the end of January 2015. In order to have a sizeable portion of the Indian two-wheeler industry, Honda has recently joined hands with Shriram Automall India Limited to tap the used two-wheeler industry which also promises to have enough potential. This move will not only help Honda to increase its share in the Indian market, but also organise an otherwise unorganised market.
