The Activa 125 FI BS-VI is set to become Honda's first BS-VI scooter in India; will bring along numerous technological & feature updates.
Honda is all set to launch its first BS-VI compliant scooter – the Activa 125 FI – in India on 11th September. The brand had showcased the model earlier this year in June. Soon though, we'll have the pricing & specification figures with us on the launch date. There's no doubt that the Activa has been one of the highest-selling scooters in India & it also happens to be one of Honda's most successful gearless products. Therefore, Honda aims to kickstart its BS-VI journey with the Activa. At the time of its reveal, Honda had mentioned that the BS-VI upgrade would make the Activa 125 more expensive by about 10-15 per cent. So, expect the price range to start from somewhere around ₹ 70,000, as the current BS-IV base (drum brake) model of the Activa 125 retails at around ₹ 60,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Since the current Activa 125 already features modern styling, Honda has decided to make minimal changes to the BS-VI derivative's exterior. Instead, the changes are internal and significant. First up, the Activa 125 BS-VI gets a new 125cc HET motor, which features Honda’s PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel-Injection) & eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology. The eSP tech, apart from the PGM-FI system, comprises of two more crucial components: a 'noiseless' ACG starter (replacing the conventional starter motor) & friction reduction, which has been achieved by using an offset cylinder & lighter crankshaft in the HET motor.
Other new/upgraded features on the Activa 125 FI BS-VI include an Idle Start/Stop system, a new digital-analogue metre console with more information display categories, an immobiliser-triggering side stand (with indicator) & a new front storage compartment, to name a few. To offset the higher cost, Honda is likely to offer the Activa 125 FI BS-VI with a lucrative 6-Year warranty package.
