The limited-time scheme is applicable exclusively to online bookings and does not cover the entry-level Flash (Lead-Acid) electric scooter.
Hero Electric, one of the largest electric two-wheeler brands in India, has come up with multiple discount schemes to rejuvenate demand for e-scooters in the time of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent national lockdown. Since people aren't allowed to step out of their houses to make a purchase and neither are commercial & business establishments allowed to operate, Hero Electric has rolled out the scheme exclusively for online sales.
Except for the base model, Hero Electric Flash (Lead-Acid), the remaining core electric scooter models (all versions of the Optima, Nyx, Dash & Photon) attract a flat ₹5,000 discount whereas the Glyde Push Scooter and the Velocity E-Cycle (available in select regions) are eligible for a ₹3,000 discount. The scheme is applicable to online bookings made between 17th April and 15th May 2020. Further, the booking amount (₹2,999) is fixed irrespective of the model selected and is non-refundable (except if the lockdown extends beyond June 2020 for any reason). All those who make their bookings during the aforementioned time period can take delivery of their scooter any time after the lockdown lifts up till June 30th.
The absence of a large chunk of fuel-powered vehicles from the Indian streets during the lockdown period and the consequent improvement in the air quality have been the key reason behind Hero Electric's scheme rollout. Now that people themselves have seen the drastic change the reduction of conventional fuel-powered vehicles can make to India's environment & air quality, folks at Hero Electric feel that there's no better time to make the switch to electric mobility to continue this improvement.
