Harley-Davidson X440 Deliveries Begin in India, Booking Window Reopens

The Indian two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp recently commenced the Harley-Davidson X440's deliveries in India. The bike is the first product resulting from the collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp. Moreover, the bookings for the X440 have reopened after being temporarily halted.

One of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers, Hero MotoCorp has commenced the deliveries of the Harley-Davidson X440 in India. The X440 is a result of the partnership between the Indian auto major Hero MotoCorp and premium bikemaker Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle is being manufactured at Hero's Garden Factory facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Since last month, the firm has been conducting test rides for buyers who reserved the motorcycle in advance. It is important to note that the booking window for the model has been reopened today. Interested customers who wish to bring home the new X440, can reserve the same at any authorised Harley-Davidson outlet or select Hero MotoCorp dealerships across the nation. Bookings can also be placed online on the American manufacturer's official website. For those unaware, the X440 has garnered over 25,000 bookings since its launch in July this year.

Sharing his thoughts on the latest development, Niranjan Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp, said, “The Harley-Davidson X440 continues to create excitement across the country. While the production is in full swing at our Neemrana facility, a huge number of our pre-booked customers have availed of the opportunity to test-ride the motorcycle. We are all geared up to add a lot of festive cheer by commencing deliveries of the Harley Davidson X440 to our customers from the first day of the Navratri. This is just the beginning of our winning the premium journey."

Harley Davidson X440: Engine Specs

Starting with the engine details of the X440, a 440cc, air/oil-cooled engine that puts out 27bhp of peak power at 6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 38Nm at 4,000rpm propells the Harley-Davidson X440. A six-speed gearbox is mated to this single-cylinder unit. The company claims the engine is reasonably smooth and delivers good low-end and mid-range torque.

Denim, Vivid, and S are the three available variants of the motorcycle. Despite having an initial launch price of Rs 2.29 lakh, the cost of all X440 variants is now Rs 10,500 more expensive than before. The entry-level Denim trim is priced at Rs 2.40 lakh, whereas the Vivid variant costs Rs 2.60 lakh. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line S variant's price stands at Rs 2.80 lakh. All mentioned figures are ex-showroom. 

Harley Davidson X440: Features

In comparison to the mid-range Vivid, which has alloy wheels and dual-tone colour options, the entry-level Denim variant has an LED headlamp, a TFT screen, wire-spoke wheels, and minimal badging. The top-tier S model features a colour TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation and notification alerts, diamond-cut alloy wheels, machined engine cooling fins, and 3D badging. All variants include a USB charging port as standard.

Harley Davidson X440: Hardware

The X440 has a steel trellis frame that is suspended by KYB 43mm upside-down forks with a dual-cartridge damping system up front and twin gas-filled shock absorbers with a 7-step preload adjustment up rear. Braking is handled by a single disc at both ends, which is supported by dual-channel ABS. The bike weighs 190.5kg, has a 13.5-litre fuel tank, and a seat height of 805mm. Further, the new MRF Zapper Hyke tyres, sized 100/90-18 up front and 140/70-17 in the rear, provide 170mm of ground clearance.

Harley Davidson X440: Market Rivals

As far as rivals are concerned, the X440 faces competition from the Royal Enfield 350 lineup, which includes the Classic 350, the Hunter, and the Meteor. Besides these, it also goes up against the Honda CB350, the Honda CB350 RS, the Benelli Imperiale 400, the Triumph Speed 400, and other motorcycles in the Indian market.
