The Ducati Diavel 1260, which was in a niche segment of its own, will soon see some competition from the Harley-Davidson Sportster S, which will be launched in India in the coming weeks.
Harley-Davidson Sportster S will be launched in India in the first week of December 2021. Harley Davidson India will make an official price announcement at the India Bike Week 2021, which has been scheduled for December 4 to 5, 2021.
The Sportster S made its global debut earlier this year and has been on sale in international markets since then. In the USA, the Sportster S retails for $14,999 (around Rs 11.15 lakh).
Due to our nation's taxing structure, the Harley Davidson Sportster S is likely to have a higher price tag, ranging between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Sportster S gets the same 1,252cc 60-degree V-twin engine that powers the Pan-America 1250 ADV. In the Sportster S, however, it has been tuned to push out 119.3bhp and 127.4Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The motorcycle also features six-axis IMU-based cornering ABS and traction control, along with five riding modes.
Harley-Davidson India has already started accepting pre-bookings for the upcoming Sportster S, and its deliveries are likely to commence by January 2022. The Harley-Davidson Sportster S will directly rival the Ducati Diavel 1260, which starts at Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
