KTM has unveiled the 990 RC R, a new sportbike designed for high performance at the ongoing EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. Building on the brand's reputation for producing race-inspired motorcycles, the 990 RC R offers a powerful engine and advanced features aimed at delivering exceptional handling and speed. The bike features improved aerodynamics and a more refined design compared to its predecessors, targeting riders who seek top-tier performance both on the track and on the road. The debut of the 990 RC R at the renowned event highlights KTM's continued focus on innovation in the superbike category, positioning it as a strong contender in the high-performance motorcycle market.

KTM 990 RC R: Mechanical Details
Talking about the mechanicals, the 990 RC R is powered by a 990cc parallel-twin engine derived from the 990 Duke R. This unit belts out 128bhp of maximum power at 9,500rpm and 103Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch, while the quickshifter is available as an optional feature. The model on display at the event also sports an Akrapovic exhaust.
KTM 990 RC R: Appearance
Drawing design inspiration from the track-focused RC 8C, the 990 RC R incorporates several performance-driven features, including winglets on the front cowl, aerodynamic elements on the lower panels, a spoiler beneath the swingarm, and a compact tail section, all of which were originally seen on the limited-edition RC 8C. Other standout styling features include carbon fibre winglets, front fenders, and splatter guards, as well as aluminium levers. The bike also boasts a crisp new TFT display, decked out in the brand's signature orange paint job.
KTM 990 RC R: Hardware Components
Hardware-wise, the supersport has a steel trellis frame, which is paired with an adjustable WP fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Powercup tyres. For stopping power, the bike houses dual front discs and radially mounted Brembo callipers, while the rear is fitted with a single disc brake.
The new KTM 990 RC R is set to launch in international markets shortly, but there is no information yet on whether it will be available in India.
Alongside the new 990 RC R, the brand's first street-legal supersport since the 1198 RC8, the bikemaker has revealed several eagerly awaited models like 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R, 390 SMC R, and 390 Enduro R.
