EICMA 2024: Hero MotoCorp has unveiled a range of new motorcycles at the ongoing motor show in Milan, in addition to an electric scooter. The models in question are the Karizma XMR 250, Xtreme 250R and Xpulse 210 bikes, as well as the Vida Z scooter. Hero says that the motorcycles are designed for different riding styles and roads, while the electric scooter blends style, sustainability, and performance. The Vida Z is the first product that the company will sell in European and UK markets.
The Xtreme 250R is Hero's attempt at a sporty 250cc bike. The company claims that it is a 'fast motorcycle in its segment and a statement of intent for the brand'. The Xtreme 250R has a design that closely resembles a streetfighter bike. It features an auto-illumination LED projector headlamp with an inset LED daytime running lamp. The meaty fuel tank, along with the Xtreme 125R-like tank extensions, makes the bike look aggressive. Other noticeable bits include a split seat setup, muscular exhaust, and angular tail section.
Hero Xtreme 250R: Engine, Output
The new Xtreme 250R uses a 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine with a 4-valve system. The engine makes 29.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm of peak torque at 7,250rpm while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The naked Xtreme 250R can reach 60km/h from a standstill in 3.25 seconds, Hero claims.
Hero Xtreme 250R: Chassis, Suspension, Brakes
Chassis-wise, the Xtreme 250R employs a trellis frame, suspended by a 43mm upside-down front fork and a 6-step preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Stopping power comes from a disc brake at each end, supplemented by switchable ABS modes. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in radial tyres. The tyres with a 50-50 weight balance are said to provide exceptional grip and responsiveness.
