The 471cc parallel-twin motor, which complies with Euro5 norms, has been tuned for 46bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque output of 43Nm at 6,250rpm.
At the EICMA 2022 show in Milan, Honda unveiled the brand-new CL500 motorcycle. The CL500 Scrambler shares many similarities with Honda's CMX 500 Rebel series but manages to stand out further thanks to a variety of internal and external features.
Honda has brought back its famed CL nameplate with this launch. Traditionally, the nameplate was used for scrambler bikes with engine sizes ranging from 125cc to 450cc. But for 2023, the moniker has returned in the form of the brand-new Honda CL500 motorcycle, which has been designed to look like a scrambler.
The 471cc parallel-twin motor, which complies with Euro5 emission norms, has been tuned 46bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 43Nm at 6,250rpm. The Honda CB500X and other versions like the CB500F and CBR500R are all powered by the same motor in India. For the CL500 Scrambler, the engine receives improved fuel injection settings, a new intake, and a new, shorter final drive for an increased low-end grunt. With a redesigned 41-tooth rear sprocket, the 6-speed gearbox transmits power to the rear tyre for enhanced acceleration. It includes a slipper/assist clutch for added control.
The front suspension system consists of 41mm telescopic forks with 150mm of travel, and the rear suspension system comprises preload-adjustable twin shocks with 108mm of travel. The front disc, which is 310mm, has a twin-piston calliper, and the rear disc, which measures 240mm, has a single piston. It is offered with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The 2023 Honda CL500 Scrambler has a trail of 108mm and a rake of 27 degrees. The bike will be suitable for riders of all sizes, given its seat height of 790mm. For the European market, the 2023 Honda CL500 has 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, which are shod with Dunlop Mixtour dual-sport tyres.
The CL500 Scrambler uses a reverse LCD display, which shows data including speed, rpm, gear selection, fuel usage, and individual indicator arrows. Additionally, it also shows the bike's fuel level. The Japanese automaker, however, has not yet confirmed if the bike will be introduced to the Indian market.
