Kawasaki’s middle-weight adventure-tourer, the Versys 650, has been updated with more features and new styling. The motorcycle will make its way to the Indian market sometime in 2022.
The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 has been showcased at the EICMA this year. The middle-weight adventurer-tourer motorcycle gets updated styling and more features. The engine, chassis and other cycle parts continue to be the same.
The 2022 Versys 650 follows the family design language which is very similar to the one observed on the Versys 1000. The headlamp, cowl and fairing design is sharper and the rear cowl has been redesigned as well.
Other new bits include a 4.3-inch TFT-Screen, which we have seen on the 650cc Kawasakis on sale in India. The new Versys 650 also features traction control – The traction control is expected to be added in other Kawasaki 650cc models very soon.
The motorcycle has been unveiled in four different variants – Urban, Tourer, Tourer Plus and Grand Tourer. Each of the variants will get its respective accessory kit from the factory. However, when launched in India, the 2022 Versys is likely to be sold in one variant only.
The underpinnings of the 2022 Versys 650 continue to be the same as the outgoing model. The engine is the same 649cc parallel-twin unit mated to a six-speed gearbox. The output is 65bhp and 61Nm, which is the same as before. The suspension components and the braking hardware has been carried forward as well.
The India launch of the 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 is likely to be held in the Q1 of 2022. The outgoing model of the Kawasaki Versys 650 is priced at Rs. 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated Versys 650 is likely to carry a higher price tag, close to Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
