Aprilia has ventured into the smaller-capacity off-road scooter with its SR GT 125 and SR GT 200. The scooter will go on sale in the international market soon, and it is unlikely that Aprilia India will launch them here.
Aprilia recently launched the SR 125 and the SR 160 scooters in India. But the Italian two-wheeler maker has revealed a more off-road biased maxi-scooter at EICMA 2021. Aprilia has unveiled the SR GT adventure scooter in two variants, 125 and 200. The Aprilia SR GT 125 is the one with a smaller engine among the two. Other than the engine displacement, both the scooters are identical to each other.
The fascia of the SR GT is very striking, to say the least. The scooters feature a muscular apron design, and both the 125 and 200, get a smoked visor upfront. The scooters also get aluminium finish bash plates which act as footrests as well.
The seat is a single-piece unit, however, there is a step in the design. Despite the SR GTs being focused on off-road purposes, the exhaust plumbing appears to be exposed and closer to the ground, which may hinder the clearance of the scooters.
The scooters feature a 14-inch alloy wheel in the front and a 13-inch alloy wheel at the rear. Both the SR GT 125 and the SR GT 200 get dual-purpose tyres.
The Aprilia SR GT 125 is equipped with a 125cc engine which is capable of 14.75 bhp at 8,750rpm and 12Nm at 6,500rpm. The scooter tips the scale at 144kg (kerb).
The SR GT 200 which is the one with a larger capacity engine gets a 174cc engine. The output is marked at 17.43 bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.5Nm at 7,000rpm. Both the scooters feature a CVT transmission.
It is too soon to confirm if Aprilia will introduce the new SR GTs in India or not. The brand current retails the Aprilia Storm 125 which is pitched as a rough-road oriented scooter. The firm may update the Storm 125 with more up-to-date styling or even a larger capacity 160cc engine.
