Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has launched its most expensive and powerful Multistrada in India – the V4 RS. This comes two days after the company dropped the teaser trailer. As expected, the Italian company has priced the Multistrada V4 RS higher than the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak, which currently costs Rs 31.48 lakh (ex-showroom). At Rs 38.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS gets electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension, an Akrapovic exhaust, aluminium wheels, and the Streetfighter V4- and Panigale V4-borrowed engine, among other things. Bookings for the new Multistrada V4 RS are open, while deliveries are scheduled to commence in September 2024.
Speaking of the engine, the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS gets a 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine develops 177bhp at 12,250rpm and 118Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm, making the Multistrada V4 RS the most powerful adventure bike in its class. The bike also has Ducati's STM Evo-SBK dry clutch, an Akrapovic exhaust, a bi-directional quick-shifter, as well as an air filter derived from the Panigale V4 R. At 211kgs (dry), the Multistrada V4 RS weighs 3kgs less than the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.
Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: Chassis
The most powerful Multistrada uses a titanium rear sub-frame for enhanced robustness, which Ducati says is 2.5kgs lighter than that of the other Multistrada V4s. The main frame is a familiar aluminium monocoque unit. This architecture is claimed to make the V4 RS the lightest fourth-generation Multistrada ever.
Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: Lighter Wheels
That's not the only weight-saving measure Ducati has opted for. Ducati has also equipped the Multistrada V4 RS with a set of 17-inch Marchesini forged aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres, and the bulky pillion grab handle and the top box mounting bracket for a sporty-looking technopolymer tail section have been removed.
Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: Handling
The Multistrada V4 RS comes with a 48mm fully adjustable inverted fork with titanium nitride (TIN) as well as a TTX36 fully adjustable rear mono-shock, both sourced from Ohlins. The Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 offers comprehensive suspension electrical adjustment. The V4 RS' braking setup consists of dual 330mm semi-floating front discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc four-piston callipers and a single 265mm disc at the rear with a Brembo two-piston calliper. The rear of the bike also features a single-sided aluminium swingarm.
Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: Features and Rider Aids
Features-wise, the Multistrada V4 RS offers a 6.5-inch TFT display with navigation, screen mirroring, and RS graphics, along with rider's aids, including traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cornering ABS, engine brake control, four power modes (Full, High, Medium, and Low), radar-assisted adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and four ride modes (Race, Sport, Touring, and Urban).
